Do bear with me as it’s not quite as simple as the title sounds. TL;DR at the end in case you want to skip the full story. Throwaway as partner knows my usual account.
A few weeks ago, girlfriend and I were watching a movie in bed and I was browsing reddit on my iPad. Early evening so decided to go get a shower before going out. Important to note that I like having Reddit as my own little bit of private space away from anything in the relationship. Not that I’ve ever done anything wrong, but it’s just nice to not be joined at the hip.
Came out the shower to see Id left the iPad screen on which I thought was weird. After checking a few things out, I saw Reddit was the last app used. When opened it went straight to a private message I had with someone from months ago.... gf had obviously snooped. She later denied this but I have nothing to hide so thought fuck it.
To test if she was still monitoring my main account, I posted a picture on a smaller sub of me holding an engagement ring stating I would be proposing on Saturday. Only got a few likes and couple of comments. Now in that time, I watched as she got her nails done. First sign she was up to something. All throughout yesterday she kept asking if she should wear anything nice for the meal I’d planned. Told her was going to be casual. She turned up in a long flowing dress.
As the night went on, it must have become apparent that no proposal was coming. Who takes a girl to Nandos to propose after all?
She was quiet the rest of the evening and today she hasn’t spoken to me. Obviously she had snooped. Today made her confess to looking at my stuff.
Tldr: girlfriend snooped on my Reddit account, She denied it so I made a post pretending I would propose last night. She sees post and gets her hopes up. Called her out for checking up on my private stuff.
