How long has Trump been avoiding answering the various lists of questions that the Special Counsel (SC) has submitted to him? Someone set me straight, but I believe it's been months and months. Now, within a week of firing Sessions, who had recused his SC oversight to Rosenstein, Trump starts answering all the questions?
Something's fucky.
With Whitaker installed, direct oversight of the SC goes to him, bypassing Rosenstein. There's nothing to stop Whitaker from requesting all kinds of details regarding the state of the SC investigation. What the SC knows, what their next steps are, what their investigative leads are, what the sealed indictments are, what the charges are, etc.
Now that Trump knows what Mueller knows, he can tailor his answers. He couldn't do this before because Rosenstein wouldn't play ball, and Sessions has recused himself. Whitaker completed the loop, and within a week, the fill-in-the-blanks answers have been completed.
edit - had some fun making this just now
