I experienced the flip side of this. I got laid off. One person in my group was going to get canned (only 3 of us) and they chose me. My manager later confessed they were going to cut the woman because she simply wasn’t doing a good job. For example, would be caught spending most of her time surfing the web. However, they cut me instead because she commonly complained about “workplace discrimination” and they were afraid she would take some sort of action. I did the best I could at my job. I have a family that I need to take care of. In the end, I was laid off because of my gender.
Edit: Gold? Sweet! Wasn’t expecting that.
Also there are a lot of people reacting to this post by taking it out on women. That wasn’t the point. I have worked with a lot of women who are great at their job. Heck no doubt there are a lot of women out there who could do the job better than I could. The point is sometimes we see people fight workplace discrimination with workplace discrimination.
